Day 4, Saturday: Favorite quote (from a person, from a book, etc) and why you love it
I use quotes often while writing, but none that truly jump into my mind when asked of a favorite. Nevertheless, I will always remember documenting countless quotes in my cloth-covered journal so many years ago. We all had one at camp and would bring them back every summer, eager to pass them around to our friends, adding on to the previous year’s inspirations.
But today, instead of climbing up into the attic to find my tattered memories, I turned to the Internet. For some reason, teaching has been on my mind while blogging lately, and today is no different. I think it’s the warm weather…
When the very first signs of spring began a few weeks ago, all I could think about was summer vacation. But this week, we took our students over to the main building of our school (Pre-K and K are located in an annex around the block) for a show. I knew my kids would love it, and I was right. So for about an hour, I watched my kids just enjoy themselves. Singing, dancing (oh, the dancing!) and just having a great time. The walk back to the annex was the most fun I’ve had with my kids in a long time. The weather was perfect and we just walked without a care in the world, talking about the show, our favorite parts, and singing the songs we just heard.
I know it sounds crazy, but we just don’t get to do stuff like that very often.
So today’s quote gets back to the basics of teaching. It reminds me why I started teaching in the first place.
And after teaching myself how to create the picture above (I’ve been meaning to do that for a while! So happy with the results!), I am more than ready to get out and enjoy this beautiful day.
Any other favorite quotes out there?
